The Tories Have Just Released An Attack Ad Against Mark Reckless

"Watch the shocking video Mark Reckless doesn't want you to see," viewers are told.

The Conservative Party has just released an attack advert against their former MP, Mark Reckless, who is now running as a candidate for UKIP in Rochester and Strood.

With only two weeks until the by-election, all signs suggesting that Reckless will storm to victory and cause a deeply embarrassing upset for the Tories.

Worse, perhaps, is the fear that a Reckless win could encourage more Conservative MPs to defect to UKIP.

The caption on the new video declares: "WATCH the shocking video Mark Reckless, UKIP's by-election candidate, doesn't want you to see.

Using footage he tried to hide - and only yesterday removed from his website - it shows how he'll say anything to get elected. Everyone needs to see this - please watch and "share" this important video now."

First, we zoom into this delightful picture of Mark Reckless and begin to hear dramatic, almost The Apprentince-like music.

And then a woman starts telling us that he's against a housing development of some kind.

Then time slows down. For some reason.

And then we're told all about how he told other MPs that he was previously in favour of the development. Repeatedly.

Which all leads us to the moment we've been waiting for: this line the Tories have been waiting to get out.

Reckless has criticised the video and accused the Tories of selectively editing the video. He told BuzzFeed News: "[The Conservative Party] misleadingly edit out the parts of my Commons speech where I state I was putting Medway Council's view."
