The Liberal Democrats are proud of their traditions, so once again, at the party's final conference before the general election, their leader took to the stage to respond to some serious questions on policy from the audience.
Except all anyone could talk about was his clothes.
As Nick Clegg took to the stage, the audience realised something was odd. He wasn't wearing a suit.
Here he is from another angle.
And suddenly, Britain's elite journalists, many of whom had travelled to Glasgow specially for the conference, became fashion commentators.
There were important questions raised about his style decisions. I mean, brown shoes with a black shirt. He should know better.
And really, there wasn't any support for Clegg's casual look.
Although there were good suggestions for what he could use his outfit for after the general election.
Maybe the look would work if he could go back in time...
But let's put serious questions to the fore. What does it mean that he WASN'T WEARING A TIE?!
It's actually a trend. Chief secretary to the treasury Danny Alexander and Lib Dem president Tim Farron also appeared at the conference without ties.
