Brooks Newmark Fails To Turn Up To Women2Win Event At Conservative Party Conference

"I wouldn't expect to see him all week," said a senior MP. "He's got other things to think about."

BIRMINGHAM – Disgraced MP Brooks Newmark failed to make an appearance at an event at the Conservative Party conference for a group he co-founded. BuzzFeed News understands he won't make an appearance at this year's conference.

A senior Conservative MP said: "I wouldn't expect to see him all week. He's got other things to think about."

Before the conference began, Newmark, well known for encouraging more women to stand for parliament, was billed as one of the speakers at the event.

But he failed to attend the event, which took place a day after he resigned once news emerged of the fact that he had sent a picture of his genitalia to an undercover male reporter posing as a young woman.

Attendees of the event were told instead that home secretary Theresa May would speak to the crowd.
