People like me, who work for the corporation, care. Darden employs a great number of people around the country.

Just in case anyone is wondering, she is that amazing looking in real life. I’ve run into her 3 times in the past month. Maybe the only time being a Clevelander is awesome? And yeah, no surprise that Widow and Cap get together, they have a kid and all that.
My favorite Batman tale has got to be “The Killing Joke”. Great look into the Joker’s origin by Alan Moore and Grant Morrison. There’s a few on here I need to pick up. Great article!
You forgot to mention that you’ll have to buy all of these games for $70 a pop since they have all but banned any sort of “used market”. That means I’m out. I don’t have disposable income like that of high school kids.
I never really thought about it too much. Until earlier this week. There was an old man drinking at the bar I bartend at, he was talking to me about his life and what he had learned. It was pretty amazing. When he got up to leave he told me to not be scared of the world and to not lose my wonder, that I had an old soul and that I could Shepard my peers. It may be the nicest thing anyone has said to me. I cried when I got home and realized that he had imparted amazing wisdom to me.
Well, aren’t some of us here hoity-toity in our “my taste is bad ’80s pop is better than yours”? Let’s face it, so much of the Eighties was all the same, just fun music, that people geeked on coke could dance to.
I’m all with you on new Tool, but more importantly to me; new Fugazi. They are currently releasing a bunch of live shows from their heyday, but it’s not the same. “The Argument” was arguably their best album and their strongest offering in terms of experimentation. COME BACK FUGAZI!!!
This was just a long essay saying, ‘Yeah, it does suck, but if you actually say so there are plenty of reasons why an fan can tell you it doesn’t”. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever heard, but it a 2 out of 5 at best. It’s a meandering, pretentious mess that will sell because of the story surrounding it, not the music contained within it.
Yeah, I can second in Victory Tony being a bastard. My buddy’s band was signed to Victory, never received money of any sort, broke up the band, and he then HIRED all new musicians to use the name. It’s crazy. I’ve had nothing but good experiences myself, but nothing I’ve ever done was even remotely affiliated with the majors. Band camp and small labels are the way to go. Sure, it costs you out of pocket, but you control your fate. Poor artists, man.
If you don’t see why this is lewd, you’re missing it. “Finger (verb) Prince (noun). As in the sexual act of fingering. And yes, that is exactly what they meant.
As a male musician, in a male dominated genre, I can definitely relate to what these women are saying. I know I’d feel the same way. However, the whole “let me help you out” phenomenon is actually prevalent everywhere. Everyone wants to be involved with your success after the hardest work is already done. I guess I’m also just flabbergasted that it’s still like this. How men can still view women as lesser beings blows my fucking mind.
Jesus. Michael Bay is out to destroy my two favorite memories of childhood. Once, JUST ONCE, can someone stay close to the original material?
That Mazzy Star record is great for many activities, mostly involving making out or exchanging fluids in other ways.
I dunno. I read the whole thing multiple times and just thought it sucked. I don’t really have an issue with who she wrote it for (or as she says, who inspired her to write it about multiple people and issues). I really just think it’s shoddy and irrelevant. It’s slapdash and intentionally wordy despite using said words in terrible context and in wrong meaning. 2 out of 5 with me being generous.
Don’t bring Neil Gaiman into this. He actually has talent.
Not s single one of you should bitch about YOUR rights next time you’re accused of a crime. Regardless of how heinous it is, there are procedures that need to be followed when the suspect is an American citizen. They don’t just become disregarded because we really dislike what has happened. We all love due process until it becomes difficult.
…and he’ll always have that spot on his dome from when big, goofy Zydrunas had enough of his elbow swinging shit and gave him one back. Oh, Z, how I still adore you!
I’m a Brandon and I swear the only reason people can spell it correctly is because most people call me Brando (childhood nickname that has followed me my entire life). Don’t even get me started on my original last name, Rorrer. It was pronounced ROAR-er, which admittedly is hard, but I don’t think anyone ever said it right even after years of knowing them.
According to studies done in my state since allowing concealed carry; accidental shootings, cases where the shooter has been proven to have overreacted, and people losing their license due to using their guns in criminal ways have all skyrocketed. I am still not completely against CCW laws, but they need to be better regulated and classes taught. Unfortunately, believe ing that means I’m seen as a “liberal gun-ER”. How dare anyone think responsibility is more important than the right to gun ownership.
Ugh. My poor, poor city. It has to get better one day, right? RIGHT?!?
Welp, guess I don’t have to type the immediate thought I had at the headline OR the one I had at the Björk comparison. Thanks all of you for getting that for me. I’m going to go listen to a Black Flag record so that I can remember that the name of the genre actually used to describe music and a lifestyle and not fashion.
I saw Greg Dulli twice last year with the Afghan Whigs and he has finally lost some weight and is back to Motown/Soul/Grunge God status. And I don’t care how straight I am, I would let Trent Reznor do whatever he wanted to me. I obsessed over everything about that man from the age of 12 until I was 25. If I could look that good…I would use it for evil….just.like.him.
It was years ago when they quit carrying the Converge, Snapcase, and At the Drive-In shirts I wanted, so I saw all of this coming. Kind of a bummer, but much like anything else these days. If it can make money, make it acceptable to everyone to some degree.
I’m not sure if it’s the same one, but most versions of the song/legend, “Stagger Lee” take place partly at a pub and brothel called The Bucket of Blood.
I am a vinyl lover, but I in no way think the sound is superior to lossless digital files. But some music begs to be listened to on a turntable. The way the sound is replicated gives it a warmth that digital files can’t give you. Most formats have their good and bad (except for cassette tapes, I hate those things so much!!!).
Well, aren’t we just the first “Arm Chair War and Sports Vet”? “You know kids, back in my day, we didn’t wear helmets OR condoms because we were REAL MEN!!!”
I miss the Rapping Bum and seeing punk shows at Skully’s (or anywhere in the old Short North for that matter). I was way into Taco Ninja for a long time. Tacos and condoms delivered, what else could you need at 3 AM?
Not sure how this is “prophetic”? It’s well known that ALL addicts face dangers of death, and Wayne writes songs about his use. I find it funny that the whole TMZ article has been discounted aside from the part about drugs. It just couldn’t be true that it’s a case of adult-onset epilepsy (common), or damage done to the brain from other illness from childhood (meningitis being one; I know because it is my current situation). It very well may be drug related, but the article the “proof” comes from has been discounted.
Come on, man! Larry Hughes had one, arguably two, good seasons in Cleveland. He was the only other consistent scoring threat cause he had the hops. Who was any better on those teams (aside from LeBron of course? Dwight Gooden? Eric Snow???
There are so many things I can no longer take seriously simply because everything said, done, or implied angers some cross-section of people. WAH! Quit crying about every single turn of phrase. Everyone knows rape is horrible, there are fights to be had about shaming and other facets of it. We aren’t fighting the word, though.
All I can say about all of this is, at 30 I started having seizures, and the situation was almost exactly like this. Left the hospital, had a seizure 7 hours later, I was right back in for 3 days. It’s apparently common around that age. I know that drugs had nothing to do with mine, he may just be dealing with a similar situation.
I wish I could have been related to him as well. I’m sure the memories are amazing. Sometimes I wish I had family so I could remember them this way.
Thank you for not being condescending in your response, it’s a rare find. I know I need to quit smoking, I do. I started much too early, my whole family smoked when I was growing up. I’ve seen the horrors of it, and it scares me. But, it’s my choice, no matter how foolish it may be. I take responsibility for it. I don’t blame the tobacco companies for my addiction to cigarettes, I made the awful decision (even at 12-13 years old I knew). Part of being American means so long as we’re not hurting others or infringing on their property or rights, I can abuse my body however I choose. Government isn’t here to legislate morality after all.
I dunno, I get the point, I understand the health debate, but Christ, let people enjoy their Coke if they want. I can tell you that at 31 I am in the best shape of my life, I still smoke and drink 3 cans of Coke a day. My blood pressure is 117/78, normal cholesterol, no diabetes or pre-onset symptoms of it, I’m 6’3” and weigh 185 pounds. Do I realize they are bad habits? Absolutely. But I really enjoy those 2 vices in the privacy of my home. If and when I run into complications, I’ll quit. I think maybe educating people on being proactive about keeping an eye on their health is less authoritarian. Then again, maybe government should control every aspect of my life.
Did you find my sister’s tape collection in the municipal trash dump or something?
Man, he got all “up in them guts”. Poor Tiago. I bet he’s gone through lots of ice since last night.
Jesus, people; lighten the fuck up. Hell, whoever had to clean it up probably got an extra half hour of low paid hours from their stingy fucking bosses. I’ve worked in a grocery and I would have thought this shit was hilarious. That milk they wasted would have been eventually thrown out in the long run after going past the sell-by date. Christ, anything to have a reason to be incensed these days.
And the effect that Dischord Records continues to have on the punk scene there is amazing. I would add Rites of Spring to this list as well. They only released one album, but it was amazing and one of the inspirations for first wave emotional hardcore, now known as ‘emo’ and widely despised. There was a time when it was an amazing genre, I promise!
You called Ron Artest a “walking David Lynch movie”. Ell-Oh-Fucking-Ell. That’s classic and I am using it from here on out. Thank you.
