10 Of The Scariest Celebrity Stalkers

It's hard to think about doing anything more to celebrities than unconditionally loving them — but some people in the world have crueler intentions. 1. Jack Jordan

Jordan was sentenced to three years probation after he was convicted in 2008 of stalking Uma Thurman for several years. He apparently tried to win her affection by sending her sexually suggestive cards and drawings (one of which was of an open grave that had a man standing over it with a razor blade in his hand). He was later jailed in 2010 for violating his probation, and then again in 2011 when he refused to take anti-psychotic medication.

2. John Hinckley, Jr.

After watching "Taxi Driver," Hinckley Jr. became obsessed with Jodie Foster. He enrolled in Yale when she was a student there so he could stalk her, and decided the best way to get her to love him was to assassinate president Reagan (which he officially attempted to do in March of 1981). He was tried in 1982 for 13 offenses but was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was confined to St. Elizabeths Hospital in D.C., where he remains to this day.

3. Reverend David Ajemian

Fans of Conan O'Brien were saddened to learn in 2007 that he had been the target of Reverend David Ajemian (of the Archdiocese of Boston)'s threatening letters and harassment since 2006. Ajemian often closed his letters with phrases like "your priest stalker," and "remember, Frank Costello once dodged a bullet in your building and so can you." Ajemian pleaded guilty at trial, paid a $95 court charge and agreed to obey two-year restraining order.

4. Yolanda Saldivar

In 1992, Selena's father gave Saldivar permission to assemble a fan club for his daughter. But in March of 1995, Selena's family learned Saldivar was embezzling money from the organization and fired her. Possibly hoping to work things out, Selena agreed to meet with Saldivar three weeks later to discuss the club's financial records — but during their discussion, Saldivar fatally shot the singer in a room at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi.

5. Matthew Hooker

In 2001, Nicole Kidman filed charges against Matthew Hooker, who had been stalking her by calling her house and writing her love poems. Kidman said in a statement she feared for her security and safety. He was ordered to stay 250 yards away from her, and Hooker told the press the restraining order was Kidman's attempt to deny the fact they flirted when they first met, and to ruin his "political aspirations" (which were that he was going to run for president).

6. Dawnette Knight

Once she became obsessed with Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones quickly became Knight's rival. She spent 2003 and 2004 sending alarming letters to Douglas and Jones, where she stated her intentions to cut up Zeta Jones and feed her to dogs. Additionally, Knight maintained she had been having an affair with Douglas — but she pleaded no contest to charges of stalking and was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

7. Dante Michael Soiu

In 2000, Soiu was sending Gwyneth Paltrow 5 letters a day, boxes full of pornography, and showing up unannounced at her parents' house. He reportedly had the intention of taking "God's scalpel" and "cutting the sin" out of Paltrow, and even sent her a vibrator that said "because I love you." He was declared legally insane at trial and was hospitalized in California.

8. Grim LeRogue

In October of 2010, LeRogue was arrested after he ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium. He was carrying five pictures in his pockets: one was a picture of Alex Rodriguez with an X over his face, and had "You have to go bud, you've ruined too many of our white queens" written on it. Another photo was of Cameron Diaz (who was A-Rod's girlfriend at the time).

9. Robert John Bardo

Bardo began stalking Rebecca Schaeffer (of "My Sister Sam" fame) in 1986. He hired a detective agency to get him her address (which was obtained through California Department of Motor Vehicles). Once he knew where she lived, he went to her house to express his anger with Schaeffer over "losing her innocence" when she appeared In "Scenes From The Class Struggle In Beverly Hills." She signed an autograph to try and get him to leave, but then he fatally shot her after telling he was there to rescue her.

10. Mark David Chapman

In December of 1980, Chapman shot and killed John Lennon ("because he was very famous") outside the Dakota building in NYC. After firing five shots at Lennon, he remained at the scene reading "The Catcher In The Rye," and told police that the novel was his "statement." And even though his lawyers wanted him to plead insanity at trial, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years to life.
