This InstaMeet Wedding Puts Your April Fools' Joke To Shame

This is what happens when the "token single girl in every group of friends" decides to freak out her family.

Kathryn Wolle decided to elope with a friend after a series of dating nightmares.

One of her online matches was arrested during a date because he had an outstanding warrant, the Nashville, Tennessee, fashion designer said.

"I had to drive his stick shift car back while the officer just laughed and shook his head at me," she added. "Granted, the warrant was about a speeding ticket or something fairly harmless, but still."

Kathryn, 23, met Alex Ciaramitaro during an InstaMeet in Franklin, Tennessee, in January. Alex, 20, organizes InstaMeets around the state.

The shutterbugs, ahem, clicked. Kathryn decided to prank her family by staging a fake wedding on March 29.

"I'm basically that token single girl in every group of friends that I have," Kathryn said. "There are bets going on for timing of when I'm going to get engaged ... I wanted to scare my family straight and sort of get them off my back while giving them another 'Kathryn' story."

Alex remembers what he said when Kathryn proposed.

    "Heck yeah!"

The wedding was held March 29 at Tin Cottage -- located in the city where the friends first met. Of the 25 people who attended or knew about the prank, many of them met through Alex's InstaMeets. They pitched in to make the prank as elaborate as possible by bringing food, creating invitations or using #CiaramitaroWedding on Instagram.

"I paid like $20 for flowers, borrowed a dress," Kathryn said. "All of the girls made their own floral crowns using materials I already had."

Alex told his family about the joke before the fake wedding. Kathryn's parents, however, were devastated.

"I'm very close with my family so they were super disappointed that they couldn't be there," she said. "My brothers and dad pretty much wanted to kill him."

Naturally, the pair confessed on April Fools' Day.

Despite coming clean, Kathryn said her family is still upset. The April Fools' Day lover added that she would do it again -- but maybe not keep the ruse going as long.

"I think half of it is that they could actually see me doing something like this -- although, this is extreme," Kathryn said of her family. "But once they get their heart rates back down to normal, it will all be fine."
