The Presenters Of "Top Gear" Will Present A New Show On Amazon Prime

The new show has not yet got a name, and cannot be called Top Gear, as the show name belongs to the BBC.

Former Top Gear hosts James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond have signed up to present an all-new car show on Amazon Prime.

The show, which has not yet got a name, was announced by Amazon's video streaming service on Thursday morning. It will be produced by Andy Wilman, who had been executive producer on Top Gear since 2002 until his resignation in March this year following Clarkson’s “fracas” with another of the show’s producers.

The presenters announced the new show, which will be available next year, on Twitter.

The deal ends months of speculation about what channel or online streaming service the presenters would join after Clarkson's removal from Top Gear.

Netflix and the UK broadcaster ITV were rumoured to be the frontrunners in having a show fronted by Clarkson, May, and Hammond. Amazon Prime, a streaming service known for original dramas such Transparent and Extant, was judged to be a less likely home for the trio.
