Can You Identify "Simpsons" Episodes From Just One Still?

We’ve seen classic Simpsons episodes so many times now, so can you guess the episode just by looking at one picture?

  1. 1. Let's start with something easy.
    The Simpsons / Gracie Films / FOX
    1. Mr. Plow. “Call Mr. Plow, That’s my name. That name again is Mr. Plow.” In case you’ve forgotten that jingle, Homer starts a plowing business.
    2. Dog of Death. The family is unaware that Santa’s Little Helper is very ill. When they do notice how ill the dog is they find out they can’t afford the operation.
    3. Flaming Moe’s. Homer invents a drink called Flaming Homer, Moe steals the recipe and changes the name, and the drink becomes a sensation.
  2. 2. Here's another easy one.

    1. Two Bad Neighbors. George W. H. Bush moves next door to Homer and they have a falling out. Then Gerald Ford moves next door and everything is wonderful.
    2. $pringfield (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling). The Monty Burns Casino is built in Springfield and Marge gets addicted to gambling. Bart starts his own casino in his treehouse.
    3. Bart’s Comet. Bart discovers a comet hurtling towards Springfield. Episode ends with characters singing “Que Sera, Sera” on a hill.
  3. 3. See, not that hard is it?

    1. 22 Short Films About Springfield. Yes, you’ve counted all of these stories and discussed whether it does actually add up to 22, but this is still a memorable episode nonetheless. Most notably, Lisa gets gum stuck in her hair.
    2. Lard of the Dance. Homer and Bart get into the grease selling business, whilst a new girl at school, Alex, makes her feel awkward about every single aspect of her life.
    3. Boy-Scoutz ‘n the Hood. Bart joins the boy scouts, gets marooned at sea with Homer, which leads to some dolphins coming to their boat communicating the words “you’re all going to die”.
  4. 4. Alright, let's make everything a bit harder.

    1. The Simpson Spin-Off Showcase. Desperate Simpsons spin-offs are introduced by Troy McClure, including a cringetastic live variety show. An actress steps in for Lisa Simpson because Lisa doesn’t want to be involved in the project.
    2. Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious. The one when Sherry Bobbins (cough *Mary Poppins* cough) comes to save the day when Marge’s hair starts falling out. Sherry is probably dead because at the end of the episode she flies straight into a jet engine.
    3. Wild Barts Can’t Be Broken. A new curfew results in the kids of Springfield doing their own radio show where they admit their parents most treasured secrets. This leads to a musical number and a curfew for anyone under 70.
  5. 5. And harder.

    1. Homer’s Phobia. Homer is worried that Bart is gay, so takes him deer hunting to improve his manliness. A gay steel mill also makes an appearance.
    2. Burns’ Heir. Mr Burns holds auditions about who will inherit his vast wealth. Bart wins and distances himself from Homer. Mr Burns releases a crazy Richard Simmonds robot when Homer demands Bart back.
    3. Itchy & Scratchy Land. Marge is disappointed when Homer and the kids get into trouble at Itchy & Scratchy Land. Then the robots malfunction and attempt to kill everybody. There are also many Bort licence plates in this episode.
  6. 6. AND HARDER.

    1. Bart’s Friend Falls In Love. Bart falls in love with a girl called Samantha at his school. She falls in love with Milhouse instead. Bart seeks revenge, which leads to Samantha being forced to study at a school run by nuns.
    2. Grade School Confidential. Seymour Skinner and Edna Krabappel fall in love, but then Bart finds out and shows everyone them making out in the janitor’s closet. Homer also realises that he been pronouncing Krabappel as “Krandle” the entire time.
    3. Marge vs the Monorail. A classy song convinces Springfield to invest in a monorail network. The monorail was a huge success in Brockway and Ogdenville. And remember guys, “mono = one. Rail = rail.”
  7. 7. This is a bit tricky now, isn't it?

    1. Homer Simpson in: “Kidney Trouble”. Grandpa Simpson has kidney trouble and Homer is a perfect match for a new kidney, but Homer keeps doing a runner just before the operation. After Homer is hit by a car they nick Homer’s kidney anyway.
    2. So It’s Come to This: A Simpson’s Clip Show. Clips of old Simpsons clips hastily shoved together, but the main strand of this episode is that Homer is in hospital after Bart shook up a can of Duff. Well, the house DID explode when he opened it.
    3. Homer’s Triple Bypass. Pretty much says what it does on the tin. An operation to save Homer’s life costs him $40,000 because he hasn’t got adequate health insurance.
  8. 8. How about this one?
    The Simpsons / Gracie Films / FOX
    1. Krusty Gets Kancelled. “The Gabbo Show” forces Krusty off the air. The show then makes a huge comeback with the help of Johnny Carson and Bette Midler in an show that opens with “Send in the Clowns”.
    2. Bart the Fink. Krusty fakes his own death when Bart accidentally exposes his tax affairs. Bart and Lisa tries to convince him back into showbusiness when Krusty tries to sail out of Springfield.
    3. Kamp Krusty. Bart desperately wants to go to the Kamp Krusty summer camp, only to find out that it is literally hell on earth.
  9. 9. And this one?

    1. Hurricane Neddy. A hurricane hits Springfield, which in turn leads to Ned being admitting himself into Calmwood Mental Hospital.
    2. Radioactive Man. Springfield is chosen the setting of an upcoming Radioactive Man film production. Milhouse gets the role and absolutely hates everything. The town also corrupts the film.
    3. A Star Is Burns. Springfield holds a film festival. Barney enters a film called Pukahontas about his alcohol addiction, wins the festival and receives a lifetime supply of beer as a prize.
  10. 10. Here's ANOTHER one.
    The Simpsons / Gracie Films / FOX
    1. Bart the Lover. Bart accidentally makes Mrs Krabappel fall in love with a fictitious person who shares the name of the 38th President.
    2. Marge Gets a Job. Marge gets a job working for Mr Burns and Bart keeps faking illnesses so he can stay at home with Grandpa.
    3. Bart Gets an ‘F’. Bart continues to fail and is informed that if he doesn’t improve his grades he will have to repeat the 4th Grade.
  11. 11. And ANOTHER ONE.

    1. Pygmoelian. Moe wins a competition to appear on a Duff calendar but realises that he isn’t good looking enough for it. He decides to get plastic surgery, which leads to him being on a soap.
    2. Homer Alone. Marge suffers severe stress, holds up an entire freeway, then goes to a spa. Homer can’t cope looking after Maggie at home.
    3. King-Size Homer. The episode that Homer goes from fat, to fat, to really really quite fat. Because of his fatness, he nearly causes a nuclear meltdown.
  12. 12. Surely you must be struggling by now.

    1. Bart vs. Australia. After finding out that toilets flush differently in the southern hemisphere, Bart accidentally sparks a diplomatic incident with Australia.
    2. Lisa Vs. Malibu Stacey. Outraged at a new sexist Malibu Stacey doll, Lisa tracks down the inventor of the doll and they make a new doll altogether. Homer falls in love with a dancing keyboard.
    3. Homie the Clown. Homer enters clown college and finds out that being a clown is the worst thing ever. He is also fooled into that ‘speed holes’ exist by a car salesman, when actually his car has just been shot by the Mafia.
  13. 13. Apologies for melting your brain right now.

    1. The PTA Disbands. An argument between Edna and Skinner leads to a teacher’s strike. Lisa, naturally, starts freaking out a little.
    2. The Principal and the Pauper. Principal Skinner actually isn’t Principle Skinner, but is really called Armin Tamzarian. A pretty memorable WTF episode.
    3. Bart’s Girlfriend. Bart falls in love with Reverend Lovejoy’s daughter, who turns out to be an incredibly bad influence on him.
  14. 14. I'm so so so so so sorry.
    The Simpsons / Gracie Films / FOX
    1. Bart Gets Famous. The “I didn’t do it” episode. Bart says that saying after accidentally knocking everything on Krusty’s set, causing him to become an overnight (and short-lived) sensation.
    2. Homer’s Barbershop Quartet. Homer’s “The B Sharps” become incredibly famous, then one of the singers, Barney Gumble, starts hanging out with a conceptual artist, who is not like Yoko Ono AT ALL.
    3. Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie. Bart gets grounded when the Itchy & Scratchy movie is out. He eventually sees it when he is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
  15. 15. Nearly there.
    The Simpsons / Gracie Films / FOX
    1. Bart on the Road. Lisa bonds with Homer whilst at work. Bart decides to take a road trip without his parents knowing.
    2. Homer’s Enemy. Frank Grimes has an incredibly unlucky life, only to become more unlucky when he works alongside Homer Simpson. Meanwhile Bart ends up purchasing a factory.
    3. The Boy Who Knew Too Much. Bart starts bunking off school and ends up witnessing an incident at Freddy Quimby’s house. If Bart owns up then he will inevitably get detention.
  16. 16. YOU'RE NEARLY THERE.

    1. Mother Simpson. Homer is reunited with his mother who he thought had died years before. Mr Burns tracks her down and she leaves again.
    2. Homer and Apu. Homer gets Apu fired from his job. Apu then goes and lives with Homer and they sing a song about the Kwik-E-Mart before Apu goes and cries on the roof.
    3. The Secret War of Lisa Simpson. Bart is pushed into military school, but Lisa decides to volunteer herself. Meatballs are thrown at her in the cafeteria.
  17. 17. AND FINALLY...

    1. Treehouse of Horror VIII. A nuclear bomb hits Springfield, but the Simpson family survives because their house is covered in lead paint.
    2. Treehouse of Horror VII. Bart has an evil twin, but it turns out out that he is the one who is evil. Lisa meanwhile becomes Queen of her own Universe.
    3. Treehouse of Horror VI. Groundskeeper Willie starts killing schoolkids when they are asleep. Billboards also come to life killing everything.
