Aaron — You say, “I’ll have a Sprite.” Most people here would probably call soda/pop “soft drinks”; that’s how the aisle signs are labeled. It’s not unheard of, however to hear a conversation similar to the following… Guy 1: “Hey, I’m gonna go get a Coke. You want one?” Guy 2: “Sure.” Guy 1: “What do you want?” Guy 2: “Sprite.”

What about cola?

Our grocery store Wegman’s is HQ’d in Buffalo NY —“pop” country, we’re further east in Ithaca NY which is more “soda” area— on their aisle signs they have “soda pop” — which covers all the bases! Amanda

So how the hell does one order a Sprite in Georgia?

My grandmother called it “tonic”, almost universally. This makes sense when you realize she drank Moxie, which is more medicinal than enjoyable.

I’m really wondering what the “Other” terms are…
