BUZZ: the argument is interesting, but, also plain to see. Extreme right wingers believe in control, and extreme left wingers believe in a live and let live kind of a view. All the rest of us (and that's MOST of us) are tired of the empty rhetoric, crap tossing contests from the two sides. Never before has the idea of Libertarian sounded so danged GOOD!

BUZZ: Yet another ground-breaking story from the pages of the sociology journal “DUH”. (with apologies to Norm McDonald) Of course the Republican Base is white, conservative, and religious. Their “big tent” rhetoric and half-hearted push for slightly more diversity (at least in terms of skin color) notwithstanding, anyone who is not an apologist for majority-rules ethnocentric politics, an authoritarian, and passionate about making sure that Americans abide by the religious teachings of a tiny handful of pontiffs and ayatollahs (sorry, “pastors of megachurches” and “executives of conservative PACs”) is being systematically shouted down and purged—and that includes a great many libertarians and classical conservatives who apparently didn't hear the warning bells that were sounding for the last 2 or 3 decades. Pretty soon it'll be just like the Mexican standoff at the end of _Reservoir Dogs_—but with characters who aren't as compassionate, ethical, or morally honest as Tarantino's.
