I love Popeye's of the American fried chicken chains, I definitely think it is the best. I would never consider ordering their coleslaw though. I didn't even know they had it. I always go for the red beans and rice which is a great. I have friends who really love Popeye's mashed potatoes and gravy.

I have tried Bon Chon and I liked it. There is another place out in Queens called Kyo Chon. I really like both the soy and spicy versions there. I've yet to try the grilled though that looks good too. I agree that it would be hard to compare Popeye's to Korean FC styles. It would be easier to compare Kyo Chon and Bon Chon and of the two, I'd say I like Kyo Chon best.

Now there is a korean fried chicken spot in Ridgefield, NJ in the food court at HMart called Toreore (Chicken & Joy). That place would be hard to compare to all of the above. I've only tried the the “Garlic Tasty” version and it is straight up the bomb. What I have seen of the varieties there, make me want to try them all. But I can't imagine not getting the “Garlic Tasty.” It's actually worth the road trip from the Bronx. It's what made me look into the other KFC options in NYC, but I think it might be my favorite. And just to give you an idea about the “Garlic Tasty” fried chicken, it's garlicy and I believe there may be a little cinnamon which might sould weird, but it really works. In addition, it tastes like they may use peanut oil… there is something my folks and I have just debated… is it peanut? Something seems almost like coconut… not sure… and a little kick of something spicy. Crispy.. not too greasy. Fresh and hot. Just trust, this place is off the chain. Just know, you'll need to wait about 15 minutes for your order because it's always made fresh to order. If you do some searching on the internet you will find several postings where people are pining for it, having tried it at one of the few spots in the US only to find they could not get it near their home. I know because I did the same thing.

c) Chicken is gross. but also…
d) Popeyes biscuits are deadly delicious

The real question is which brand of malt liquor pairs best with each type of chicken. I'm guessing the OE went pretty well with the Popeyes, but what goes with Korean chicken?
