SatelliteJane 8 months agoTeeth are such a stupid design. Seriously, how can any human with teeth believe in an “intelligent designer”? I tripped as a kid and that led to a lifetime of costly dental work, root canals, veneers and a god damned pin SCREWED INTO MY SKULL! An intelligent designer would have realised that kids sometimes trip and fall and made something a liiiittle more durable and shock absorbant. And don’t get me started on wisdom teeth. I’ve had two surgeries because one grew the wrong way (not very intelligent) and the other’s root got entangled in the others’ roots and it was an unintelligent, painful mess. I got an infection in my jaw that required hella strong antibiotics, otherwise it would have eaten through the bone. If left untreated, the bacteria would most likely entered the blood stream = sepsis & slow, agonising death. And I was “lucky” because I didn’t need braces because my teeth are only a little crooked. Yes, eyes are fantastic, the flowers are beautiful but human teeth are the most flawed, stupid design ever. I honestly haven’t met a single person in my life who has never had any problems with their teeth.

k94 8 months agoI was lucky. When my wisdom teeth were removed, it was fairly minor without anything bad happening (other than the nurse slipping with the IV drip and causing me to bleed all over my hand.) And I’ve never needed braces, though a dentist thought I needed them when I was younger. Few years later, a different dentist thought my teeth were so straight that I did have braces. However, the best (or worst) thing about teeth is that enamel is the toughest and hardest material in the human body. Which means that not only are teeth horrible, but even then, they’re the absolute best that nature can do. And that’s just depressing.
