The first poster says “98% of PROCURABLE women”. It means women you can “procure” for sex- prostitutes. Notice the men are all wearing sailor attire. I don’t know which of these are American and which are British (maybe all of them the former, it’s not like other nations weren’t doing the same as described below), but I know in Britain under Gladstone and afterwards there was a huge crackdown in certain ports on prostitutes that were being used by the navy members stationed there. Some pretty ugly things happened to those women, but the sailors weren’t tested or reprimanded at all. So the first poster is more like the third in that respect.

It says “procurable women”… that means prostitutes… not “all women”

Interesting how they portray military service as the noblest of ventures. Times sure have changed.

Most of these make it out like women are the primary carriers of VD, like a man can’t possibly give a woman VD, it’s only vice versa! Sexist but still cool looking.

For being such ugly subject matter some of these are fucking beautifully done. Whoever was in charge of finding the artist to make the posters had great taste.

this is one of the ways gurls were explained to me by my hyper religious mother. I reckon this is partly where she got her ideas? For some reason i had issues with the subject ?
