“Pop Tarts” is the street name for a kind of meth that needs to be heated in a toaster before consuming. Sometimes the tinfoil wrapping causes electrical fires in toasters. The police and perps know the lingo but sometimes the local reporters get confused and stories like this end up in the paper.  Also good Pop Tart costs way more that 50 cents - more like $50 a pop which is probably what the policeman meant when he said “fifty” to the reporter.

Luckily they are easily 8 months old so we can sleep easily. Toaster Strudels are a likely culprit.
