R.I.P. Hacked Instagram Accounts: 5 Lessons Learned

Thanks to an email that came a little too late, warning me of suspicious activity on my former Instagram account, I have the painstaking task of starting from zero...or just giving up on Facebook's annoying younger brother.

    1. We can all agree just how much Instagram doesn't give a f*ck.

Googling "how to recover a hacked [and deleted] Instagram account" is not for the faint of heart.

    2. Neither does Facebook, apparently.

    3. Backing up your data is essential, no matter who you are.

It doesn't have to be rocket science. You don't have to waste your time finagling with APIs, scripts and codes and such to protect your info. Neither do you have to deal with the digital clutter of randomly placed photos saving to your camera roll.

It's the desert dry backend of social media, but it's an essential for people who care anything about the hard work they put into everything they share and do to connect with others.

Use this IFTTT recipe to save all of your photos from start to finish for easy re-uploading.

Use this IFTTT recipe to make sure you don't lose all your likes either.

    4. Take care of all your data, in fact.

    5. Let yourself blow off some steam, alright?

And it's okay if you can't let things go for a little while.

Just remember that life goes on, things regain balance, Om shanti and all that shit.
