19 Burning Questions Disney Movies Never Answered

We need some magical answers ASAP.

1. Why didn't Cinderella's glass slippers revert back to their original form at midnight, like the rest of her outfit?

At the stroke of midnight, her coach turns back into a pumpkin, her animal friends revert back to their original form, and her dress is once again in tatters! But her slippers? STILL GLASS!

2. Why didn't Ariel write out to Eric that she loved him and seal the deal RIGHT AWAY?

As you *may* have heard, Ariel could have saved herself a lot of trouble and just written out to Eric her plan from the beginning. I mean, we know she can read...AND write!

3. But we've got more questions about The Little Mermaid! Like, why was Ariel OK with crab being served at dinner?

She was nervous that Sebastian was running around, but not that everyone else was about to munch on her undersea friends. Seems kind of...FISHY, doesn't it?!

4. And while we're on the subject of crustaceans, what's up with Sebastian's accent?

We know that The Little Mermaid takes place off the coast of Europe — possibly Denmark, where the fairy tale originated — but Sebastian speaks with a Caribbean accent, unlike all the other characters. Could he have crossed the Atlantic Ocean? But he's not a strong swimmer! And wouldn't the cold water have killed him?

5. Was it really THAT hard for the Chinese army to notice Mulan was in fact a woman?

OK, so Mulan dressed up pretty well as a man. But Mulan was in the thick of it with these guys, and do you really think there wasn't a moment where she might have slipped, or one of the other soldiers caught on? I mean, if Li Shang had looked down at this exact moment...

6. Why didn't Maleficent send her raven Diablo to look for Aurora sooner?

Sure, Maleficent is as cool as hell, but damn, basically 16 years and she never seemed worried that her goons — "FOOLS!" as she called them — had not located Aurora. She seemed to ask the hard questions of them pretty late in the game. She's a pretty smart cookie who liked to have her ducks in a row, so why didn't she send her raven, Diablo, sooner?! He found her on his first flight out to look for her — clearly HE had his shit together!

7. How was Snow White and the Prince's relationship "true love" when they only met for the duration of a song?

I mean, Snow White *IS* beautiful. And that voice! But isn't it a bit of a stretch to think that the Prince fell THAT hard for her after singing one duet together? I *guess* if you believe in true love and all, but...

8. Also, what the hell were the Seven Dwarfs doing with all those jewels they were mining?

OK so Dopey and Co. should be raking it in with all of those gems they are mining, right? But instead, they live in a humble cabin in the woods THAT THEY CAN'T EVEN KEEP CLEAN ON THEIR OWN. Srsly, what is going on???

9. Why does Buzz consciously freeze up like the other toys when humans enter the room, but still thinks he's an actual Space Ranger?

If Buzz thought he was a real Space Ranger, wouldn't he have tried to befriend or attack Andy, who would be an alien on a strange planet? He certainly wouldn't have frozen up like the TOYS.

10. What the hell were Roger and Anita planning on doing with 101 dalmations, REALLY???

First off, how much money was Roger making off his song (the only song he appears to have sold)? Because it would take a TON of money to raise 101 dalmatians! Think of all the food they would eat in just a week! But really, what the hell were they going to do with so many dogs? Were they thinking of turning their "dalmatian plantation" into a puppy mill?! =(

11. Real talk: Where did Elsa get her powers from?

Typically, Disney does a good job of explaining why certain characters are "special": Peter Pan has pixie dust that makes him fly, and the Beast is under a curse. But Elsa just HAS her powers. There's no backstory! Is she an honorary member of the X-Men? Did someone curse her?

12. Why did the sorceress basically curse an 11-year-old for being a brat?

OK, so at the beginning of Beauty and the Beast the narrator tells us a young prince was put under a curse for turning away an old beggar woman from his castle. His curse — his bestial form — would become permanent on his 21st birthday if he hadn't found true love. In "Be Our Guest," Lumiere sings, "For 10 years we've been rusting..." so that means the curse was probably placed when the prince was 11. I mean, lots of 11-year-olds are brats! Why was the enchantress so mean?

13. While we're at it, where the hell were the Beast's parents?

This tidbit ALSO leads us to this question: Why is an 11-year-old running around in his own castle, sans parents?!? He's referred to as a prince, so it seems his parents the king and queen are still alive...right???

14. And also, what's the deal with Chip? How was he born, and who is his father?

Chip's existence begs a LOT of questions. Who is his father? Also, he seems a few years younger than 10...so HOW could he have been born in the post-curse era of the castle??? Did Mrs. Potts give birth...as a teapot?

15. Wouldn't it have just been easier for Scar to kill Simba when he killed Mufasa?

Scar tells the pride that Simba and Mufasa were killed in the stampede. Why didn't Scar just get rid of Simba ONCE AND FOR ALL when he had the chance? Also, wouldn't it have seemed suspicious that the pride could recover Mufasa's body, but not Simba's?

16. While we're on the topic of The Lion King, could Simba and Nala be...related?

Think about it: You didn't really see any adult male lions hanging around Pride Rock aside from Mufasa and Scar. Isn't it reasonable to believe that Simba and Nala could be stepsiblings...or cousins...or SOMETHING? Kind of gives "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" a whole different meaning, doesn't it?

17. How did Mother Gothel figure out the song to activate the powers of Rapunzel's hair?

Seriously though — did she just keep trying random lyrics until something worked? Can someone explain this?!?

18. The Genie's wish to make Aladdin a prince didn't really work, did it?

Do the Genie's wishes really work? Aladdin wished to be a Prince, yet Jafar is able to reveal that he is a "common street rat." Shouldn't none of the characters other than Genie and Aladdin have known about his real background? So either Genie lied about the abilities of his powers or he never really turned Aladdin into a prince — just gave him a fancy parade and outfit.
