Has Starbucks Ever Spelled Your Name Wrong?
It’s time Starbucks shifts its focus from bug based food colorings to name grammar.
Sure, Starbucks makes good coffee, but what they don’t know how to do is spell names. Run a search on Twitter at any given moment and you will find numerous people upset at how they misspelled their name. Perhaps it’s time Starbucks starts to care? For $4 a drink you’d think they would.

Get your act together Starbucks! Or else I’ll be taking my name (and money) to The Coffee Bean.

spencerl3 11 months agoI am never going into starbucks again after my recent ordeal. Found the whole experience cringey. Never will i set foot through the doors again. Besides ive swayed to the more retro, arty funky places. With the aged sofas and rough edges. Its hip, trendy and most of all their account of friendly isnt in an employee manual. Never mind writing my name on a cup. Ill be happy with a smil

kea718 11 months agoWhat’s with all the hostility towards this article? It didn’t seem like anyone was “angry” or “pissed off” about their name being spelled wrong, it seemed like they thought it was kinda funny how they spelled it so they posted it for their friends to see. Don’t act like u wouldn’t look twice and maybe even chuckle if someoe spelled your name (John) very wrong (Jauhn)… Especially if you spell your name for them.

I live in a non-English speaking country. After 20 years my boss can’t even say my name right. I enjoy all of the misspellings. Yesterday I went to the Starbucks and they wrote my name followed by a very respectful “Hn”, short for “Hanim,” which means “lady”. Very nice!

childeharold 11 months agoShouldn’t some (if not most) of these people agree that at least half of their names are weirdly spelled to begin with: I mean, honestly, “Alecs”! Secondly, these workers at Starbucks are preparing a heavy volume of drinks on an hourly basis, who has time to try to figure out the correct spelling of some of these drug-induced names? Really, “Alecs”?! Was your mother on bath salts?

capt.jakov 11 months agoSome of these are knit-picking (like the nia-nina one) and i get that they just want to get your drink out asap and they might be swamped/flustered, etc… but i agree that some barristas just gotta be fucking with you. I once went to a starbucks with a girl named Lauren. She said her name clearly but the barrista still wrote down “glory” on her cup.

primavolta 11 months agoA barista once wrote my name as “Mason” instead of “Megan” when my coworker picked up a coffee for me… had a laugh, not the end of the world though.

jamiem9 11 months agoThis actually irritates me. Anytime I try and spell a name in the “Traditional” Way it’s wrong because your parents wanted you to be different from the rest of the kids. Half the time people mumble and can you see people are steaming milk and grinding beans back here? I’d like to see you work an 8 hour shift then kindly sit down and drink your latte while not complaining about the grammatical spelling of your name.
People spell my name wrong all the time. Thing is I actually have better thins to do then post a cup or what have you on a social site. -

krisztinai 11 months agoMy name is neither spelled nor pronounced the way it is usually pronounced in the USA so when I go to Starbucks, I pronounce it the English way and hope for the best. Well, last week I watched the barista make my drink but I didn’t hear anything even remotely close to Christina/Christine variation I usually expect. She wrote Steven. As long as I end up with the drink I select, I have no problems.
