Exactly. By all rights we should be in the midst of a Black Eyed Peas-grade internet hate backlash but… we’re not. Something about it. It’s always interesting to look back to your formative years and see which songs wound up being the defining sounds of it. You can already tell this will be one of them. People who are kids now will hear this 10, 15, 20 years from now and be instantly transported back to what right now feels like. It won’t be one of the huge acts that define the era, but will be one of the distinct smaller sounds that sticks. I’m thinking of something like Corey Hart’s Sunglasses at Night from the 80s. Instant recall.
