Define $$$$. Maizal and Thirsty Koala in Astoria are both very GF/GF friendly and affordable. Nizza in Midtown is pretty reasonable, considering the area. Risotteria is famous (in the GF world), TINY and reasonably priced, considering the area and the fact that it caters to a special diet. Pie by the Pound is very reasonable (literally by the pound), Keste less so, but it’s swanky pizza in the WV. Restaurants that cater to special needs can and usually do jack up their prices because they can, but also because GF ingredients aren’t cheap, neither is the process of maintaining a GF friendly kitchen. If you have celiac and want to dine out in NYC you accept these costs. I don’t have celiac but I’d happliy pay a few dollars more so my friends can with special needs can happily eat pasta for the first time in 10 years or pizza not on cauliflower. Note- I define “reasonable” in Manhattan as $20 or less per entree, not counting salads (no salad should be more than $15, and only then if it has friggin caviar and gold).
