Half-Naked Photos, Pot-Smoking Tweets Get Teacher Suspended
Carly McKinney, a first-year 10th-grade math teacher, has been put on administrative leave after a local news station discovered tweets containing revealing photos of her and bragging about bringing marijuana to school.
1. After station 9NEWS in Denver discovered this Twitter account of Carly “CarlyCrunkBear” McKinney, a first-year 10th-grade math teacher, McKinney made the lewd account private.
2. But Topsy.com has a collection of her pot-smoking, NSFW tweets and pictures.
4. The 23-year-old teacher regularly tweeted about smoking weed and used hashtags largely associated with rave and drug culture, like #PLURVibes.
7. She told 9NEWS that while the photos were of her, she was unaware that her friend was posting them to the @Crunk_bear account.
8. McKinney told 9NEWS that the account was actually a parody that her friend was tweeting from, denying that she has ever brought drugs on to her school’s campus.
11. A representative from the Cherry Creek School District has confirmed, however, that McKinney has been placed on administrative leave.
13. The marijuana-related tweets are being taken the most seriously. While Colorado has legalized marijuana for personal use, it is still against the law to bring it on school grounds.

Time to get over it. Everyone wants to target teachers and demonize them in every way. I’m a teacher in Colorado and hell if I don’t take a pull after work. I teach middle school and high school. Have you ever taught 175 students a day, 6 classes a day and 30 classes a week for insultingly low pay? And I mean actually insultingly low pay—not the supposed “$70,000” a year that teachers make. It’s a tough job, but I love every minute of it. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to go home and rip my clothes off, dance around in my underwear and smoke pot. NEWS FLASH TO EVERYONE: ALL OF YOUR TEACHERS PARTIED THEIR ASSES OFF AND YOU JUST DIDN’T KNOW IT.

I think you’re totally missing the point. She’s more than welcome to do what she wants in her free time, hell I know I couldn’t handle being a high school teacher. The problem is posting these things on a public forum where your employer and students can see it. A teacher needs to be a source of a authority and when your 17 year old students are thinking hot lingerie model instead of math teacher, there’s a problem. That makes for a very ineffective learning environment, and that’s the issue, not what she chooses to do in her free time.

Common sense is missing a whole lot of people! When I was 23, ill be damned if I did anything that would jeopardize my source of income! I need my cash to keep flowing! Eff getting fired over some bull. Keep some shit to yourself, there is a time and a place! Why do young folks want everyone in their damned business. I dont get that shit at all! The sad part is that this is someone who is deemed intelligent enough to teach our children but not intelligent enough to know to keep it off the internet. That right there should disqualify her from teaching.

IDKMYBFFJILL 4 months agoI dont know how terrible of a teacher she really is. Her pictures did teach me something. I never knew what a “Framp Stamp” was before now. so i did learn something because knowledge is power.
