MMR 7 months agoI thank my dad for being so painfully embarrassing that the fear of what he would do to me keeps me off Facebook. When he sent a friend request, I had to shut down my account. You just can’t block someone who has your phone number. I cringe thinking of how I had to help him scan old pictures of me so he could post them. REALLY EMBARRASSING PHOTOS. I just know if I still had an account, he’d try to tag me with them and then call me to complain that my account was set up with privacy settings that blocked tagging. Because, of course, the guy can’t figure thing out unless it’s some annoying shit like how to tag. And like so many old people, he has more than one account because he lost his login info and started a new account. (I wonder how many of the Facebook accounts are multiple old people accounts.) Of course he had to call me to complain about it because I’m the de facto tech support person in the family and it’s somehow my fault he then has to go friend all his friends on his new account… ugh. It’s always my fault if someone doesn’t know how to use a remote, access a website, book a reservation, etc. I gotta go over there this weekend to set up his Bluray to stream Netflix. As soon as I get home, I’ll have 2 messages about how he can’t find the movie he wants to see on Netflix streaming and he’ll be pissed off because it’s on his DVD queue but since it isn’t available for streaming it’s somehow going to be my fault.

My mother in law is up to three FB accounts, because she can’t remember how to log in and she just creates a new account. Then she goes on my nieces pages and writes super mushy (and I’m sure terribly embarassing, since they are self-conscious teens) messages. It is so entertaining.

My grandma has shared on her wall pictures that someone else has posted of me and a group of people that I had just met. As if to say “Look! She has friends!”

Emily Fleischaker 7 months agoThe first and only comments that my dad ever made on my Facebook photos were very kind and normal, except that underneath every one he was accidentally including his entire email signature, with his name, title, address, phone number and his assistant’s name, title, phone number etc. It was endearing as sh*t. I love that man.

ally_b 7 months agoMy mom likes to post lots of stupid shit/pictures on my wall. I was like “Hey mom, can you please send me that stuff in a message?” and she was all “Ok” but she still posts it to my wall anyway. She also tags me in EVERYTHING. It’s like, I don’t think all of my friends need to know we went to the bookstore, CHILL.
