EekANon 4 months agoYet she talks to them on the phone (heard it on TV) as the authority on the shooting. I think Lear is a douche as much as everybody to ask a traumatized freshmen that; but she should have then cut her communications with them and that would have made a point that no one could ignore.

So those saying, “she is sending a tweet instead of getting away!” Or “she sure had time to tweet!” No… This tweet sounds like she was already out of danger and that journalist provided no support to her and just wanted to get the best story.

TottenhamHotspur 4 months agoActually going to take the side of the journalist on this one. It’s not like she sent a private message warning her friends that somehow got back to being shared publicly, and was then being questioned by a reporter. She took the time to get her phone, click on twitter, and send her characters out to the public looking for a re-tweet or for the campus paper/CNN/buzzfeed/media coverage of the event. If she was my sister, I’d be ashamed of her for tweeting “…shots. Rapid shots” and ducking for cover behind her iPhone instead of calling 911. #ChildPlease

Chris Futrell 4 months agoYea, but to inform you both, as a journalist, using a social network to “find a story” is very lazy work, almost desperate. Go out and find the story by being on the frontline of the story. Also, it seemed like he was hounding for an interview, which is what journalists are also known for. Just to make one thing clear, Lear had no interest in that woman’s safety. His interest was to impress his news director or senior producer.
