This Photo Perfectly Sums Up Everything Wrong With Expecting Mothers To Breastfeed In The Bathroom

"My baby eating is not the gross side-effect of having children."

The above photo recently went viral after 28-year-old Israel-based photographer Tamar Shugert submitted back in February to 52Frames, a website that organizes weekly photography challenges.

    Shugert wrote in her caption:

I should feed my baby where? My baby eating is not a gross side-effect of having children. If you are not willing to eat your lunch in the bathroom, then don't expect me to feed my kid there!

The mother of, soon to be, three kids told BuzzFeed that the topic of breastfeeding isn't really discussed in the Israeli media. She didn't really expect her photo to be shared this much.

"Some of the commenters were saying that breasts shouldn't be sexual, but I believe that breasts have a dual purpose," she said. "In my culture — Orthodox Judaism — sexuality is used as a powerful force within marriages and not something to be shown to everybody."

Shai Davis, the co-founder of 52Frames, told BuzzFeed that he's really excited about how far Shugert's photo has spread. The goal for that week's challenge was to make a statement about something they feel passionate about.

"If a picture is worth a thousand words, Tamar's photograph could fill entire libraries," Davis said.

Oh, and fun fact, the guy eating spaghetti? That's Shugert's husband Daniel. Tamar said that when it comes to both her parenting and photography, he's her biggest fan and supporter.

"I believe that everyone should feel comfortable in their day-to-day life," she said. "Whether it's nursing, or having lunch, or both."
