Barbara Walters Asks Chris Christie If He’s Too Fat To Be President
“That’s ridiculous, I mean, that’s ridiculous,” Christie said during a segment for Walters’ Most Fascinating People special.
Walters: There are people who say that you couldn’t be president because you’re so heavy. What do you say to that?
Christie: That’s ridiculous, I mean, that’s ridiculous. I mean I don’t know what the basis for that is.
Walters: I think they’re worried about your health.
Christie: Well, I’ve done this job pretty well and I think people watched me for the last couple weeks and during Hurricane Sandy doing 18-hour days and getting right back up the next day and still being just as effective so I don’t really think that would be a problem.

jeffreylouisp 6 months agoHe’s morbidly obese, and might schvitz to death under too much strain. Actually, the fact the the Presidency ages people twice as fast, in combination with a BMI ratio off the charts, makes him unfit to be President. And the whole concept of the “President’s Council on Physical Fitness” becomes fair game for a great Saturday Night Live sketch.

trollprincess 6 months agoIf we’re going to start eliminating possible presidential candidates because of their weight being a possible negative factor towards their health, then why do we let so many old people run for president? Seriously, she’s talking to a guy whose party ran a guy in 2008 who was within seven freaking years of the average American life expectancy. I could see if he were suffering from a debilitating life-threatening disease, but being fat is NOT a guarantee that someone is falling apart at the seams health-wise. Hell, Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in 1919 that left him incapable of governing the country — his wife took unofficial charge for the next two years until they left the White House — and if you’ve seen photos of him you know that was not a fat man. The point is, health is not now nor has it ever been under the sole ownership of the thin.

LadyFrank 6 months agoPeople gave Obama a hard time for smoking because it is unhealthy, so he quit. I don’t think it’s out of line to be concerned about his weight if he wants to be president. Just because you work 18 hour days and walk a lot doesn’t mean you won’t drop dead of a heart attack in a week.
