Amazing Photos Of A Veteran Getting Out Of His Wheelchair For His First Wedding Dance

Sgt. Joey Johnson — with a little help from his groomsmen — managed to get out of his wheelchair to dance at his wedding.

Sgt. Joey Johnson met his now-wife Michelle at a concert in 2012. Johnson had recently come back from serving 10 months in Afghanistan.

Johnson was suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome and began riding a motorcycle for an adrenaline rush.

Four months after meeting Michelle, Johnson was in a motorcycle accident that left him unable to feel anything below his chest.

But when the couple got married in June, Johnson wanted to have a proper first dance as husband and wife.

So he enlisted a little help from his groomsmen.

"When Michelle walked in the whole room was quiet," wedding photographer Rachel Linnea told BuzzFeed News. "She had no idea what was going on."

Linnea said that as she realized what was going on she had a big smile on her face that really quickly turned to tears. The whole room was crying as the couple shared a dance.

The couple bought their first house together in July. You can watch a video of their dance here.
