Just because something is “edgy” or about race issues doesn’t mean it was directed well. It doesn’t mean it was acted well. I haven’t seen it, so I can’t speak personally as to how good I thought it was, but I can speak to the outrage of it being “snubbed”. The oscars are awards for film making, not for addressing hot button issues. If people were more upset about the film making being overlooked it would make sense. By making it a race issue, those complaining are showing they don’t really understand how this process works and what the awards are for.
