Ryan Biracree 2 years agoThere’s nothing even slightly avant-garde or progressive about Lady Gaga. Her music is by-the-book electropop, and she has no persona or ideas to speak of. All she does is pay lots of money for strange outfits and then wear them. Without her public image and press machine, she’s basically just Katy Perry. Not to say Lennon would have minded Gaga in particular, but I doubt he’d see much to differentiate her from Miley.

missaa 2 years agoPlease don’t compare Gaga to Katy Perry. Katy Perry did the faux-lesbian for the entertainment of straight dudes song; Lady Gaga is actually outspoken about gay rights. And instead of singing about kissing a girl, she actually did kiss a girl in “Telephone” - and not a cute girl that dudes watching would fantasize about, but a butch woman who she thought was attractive. Katy Perry dresses up as a tasty treat with whipped cream boobies; Lady Gaga wears bras made out of firearms. Lady Gaga may be a pop star, but she has some substance to her performance. Katy Perry does not.

apodeictic 2 years agoI’m agreeing with the above. Lady GaGa’s music is a commentary on pop music and the materialistic economic system surrounding the music industry itself. Maybe I can’t sit and listen to her music day in and day out, but I can appreciate that she’s a far more intelligent musician than Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus.
