CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Artur Davis, the former Democratic congressman from Alabama who became a Republican this year and spoke at the RNC, decried former Florida governor Charlie Crist’s speech at the Democratic convention on Thursday.
“I don’t know the guy, but I was struck by how much Charlie Crist’s speech was about Charlie Crist and his motivations,” Davis said in an email to BuzzFeed. “Not surprising, when you note that for all the pundit handwringing about the GOP’s alleged extremism, polls show a fraction of McCain supporters have shifted to Obama. Its easy to focus on yourself when you represent a constituency of one.”
