A Reporter Suggested That Eva Longoria Doesn't Even Need Glasses And Eva Lost Her Shit

    She wrote an open letter.

This is Eva Longoria. Actress, charity worker and glasses enthusiast.

Eva has been in Australia recently promoting eyeglasses company Specsavers. BUT WHAT IF IT'S ALL A LIE.

Writing in the Sydney Morning Herald over the weekend, a journalist suggested that Longoria doesn't really need glasses at all.

Under the headline "Why Eva Longoria's shilling is shameful", SMH Lifestyle Editor Jenna Clarke said she had gone searching for pictures of Longoria wearing glasses outside of her promotional campaigns and had come up empty handed.

"All I could find were two photos of her ever spotted wearing glasses outside the house, oh and the few occasions she was seen looking uncomfortable and unsteady wearing a pair around Sydney this week," Clarke wrote.

"However a representative stressed she has worn glasses... for reading... for the last four years."

Now it's a few days later. Longoria has seen the story and set the record straight in an open letter on Twitter.

Longoria says she's been wearing reading glasses for the past two years.

She claims she started wearing them as she completed her ~Master's Degree~ and even wore them as she testified before ~Congress.~

"I went in for an eye test (again on May 3, 2013) and the optometrist said I needed reading glasses and gave me a prescription from which I bought five pairs of glasses," Longoria said.

The open letter got quite a response, including this sick burn directed at the SMH.

@EvaLongoria @jennamclarke @smh SMH Sydney morning herald? It's more like "shaking my head" 😒 well done Eva!! You tell them!!!

@EvaLongoria @jennamclarke @smh Eva so classy and such an awesome way of defending yourself 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 role model

    @EvaLongoria @jennamclarke @smh OMG Éva you rock ! I really like your letter !!! In fact it's not hard to googling 😂😂😂 #LoveYouEva ❤

And this guy, who, like many of us, wears glasses.

@EvaLongoria @jennamclarke @smh I need them too so don't feel bad. Contacts and reading glasses.lol

The article also says that Longoria shilled for a cat food company in 2012 despite not owning a cat. Here's a photo of Eva Longoria with a cat.

Longoria admitted she didn't own a cat, but was adamant that she is totally a cat person.

"I always found that I identified with them. Cats are feminine and independent and playful, much like a woman," she told People at the time.

BuzzFeed News attempted some investigative Googling of our own, and frankly came away with more questions than answers.

Fairfax Media has been contacted for comment. We'll update this post when they get back to us.
