Some more information: He’s 59, so he can’t get Medicare for awhile, and it’s nearly impossible for a non-elderly adult who doesn’t have dependent children and isn’t classified as fully disabled to get on Medicaid. (Yet people complain about welfare mothers while setting up the system so no one can get so much as a $40 rescue inhaler reimbursed in most states without crapping out a kid first or ignoring their illness until it completely incapacitates them.) His medical problems are a mysterious growth on his chest, two ruptured discs, and a problem with his left foot. Sadly, if that growth is cancerous, robbing a bank may have just saved his life.
