The person below me has added my comment - Windermere is a mere (it’s to do with lake formation)- the only lake in the Lake Districe is Basenthwaite. Also the Jocks wouldn’t be too pleased with you calling a Loch a Lake… there’s is a difference (so they tell me)
Everyone in these pictures is now dead
Why would you get angry/upset/offended/outraged by these adverts? They reflect the ideas of society at the time. Women’s place in society has changed a huge amount in the last few decades and generations, and that’s a great thing, but it doesn’t give us the right to look upon their values and norms with anger or pity. The fact is advertising does, and always has, played to the expectations and demands of the target audience - in short these adverts are displayed as such because that is what would have been most effective at that time. Is that wrong? No. Would they be acceptable now? No. Were they successful then? Probably. Would they be successful now? Probably not. That’s how the world has evolved.
Numbers 6 and 13 are brilliant!

37) Real Italian pizza
38) Empires in history (Roman, Greek and British empire. American empire? Closest is Starbucks!)
39) Understanding Europe is not the world – If you win the European Championships you become European Champions. For some reason Americorns seem to call themselves world champs?
40) International sport – it isn’t just country by country That’ll do for now. Off to make a real cup of tea ïŠ
