Alasdair Murray 10 months agoI’m sorry if it makes me a ‘whiny-lesbian-nazi-feminist’, but this man for one thinks she has a point. Don’t you think it’s a slight problem that we get to watch movies all the time where we can identify with the main characters, but there are many fewer characters out there for women to relate to? And that the entire movie industry is basically run by, and caters for, men in general? And yes, it is partly a response to demand - female-focused films don’t do very well - but that’s just because there’s a larger social problem here. I for one would like to see more movies with diverse female characters, but there just aren’t many out there. And no, it’s not the biggest problem in the world. But it’s just a little sad that whereas we dudes get to be all the cool heroes growing up, for so many girls out there, in so many movies, the only character they could identify with is the love interest.

_Langa_ 2 years agoDemand does not imply a problem. Demand implies the nature of the beast. Sure the movies that I choose to watch I can identify with the main character, but most of the movies I’m forced to watch are retarded romantic comedies that women go nuts for. Just because some women see this as a problem doesn’t mean they’re right. For every man-hating whiny feminist there’s 10 women who are happy with the way things are. What feminism implies is that there has been an intentional unnatural effort to oppress women through out human history and there hasn’t. What people fail to understand is that what we humans do is essentially follow the path of least resistance. I’m not saying that everything we do is the way an advanced civilisation is supposed to act, I’m saying that we can’t deny our animal behavior all the time. Don’t get wrong, I’m happy that women have a voice. I respect women immensely as intelligent, strong, compassionate & generous equals, to any man. However men and women are different, and not all the rules apply to both sexes. Unfortunately, the workplace is essentially a battlefield for males to clash horns and determine whose the strongest for our most primal reason for existence, win a female and procreate. Which is why women get gypped when it comes to salaries, because deep in the subconscious of the CEOs, women are not competition. Men are peacocks. We flaunt our feathers proudly and egotistically for the same primal motive and that shows in media, movies, music etc. Its not pretty, I know AND I’m the first to say lets tear shit up and start a revolution, however my problem with feminists is that they’re hypocrites. Anyone who truly wanted equality would be called a humanist.
