    11 St. Jude Facts That Will Make You Want To Come To DHOP

    Come for the pancakes. Stay because it's for the kids.

    It's finally here.

    1. Every dollar raised at DHOP will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

    The $5 you pay at the door and the $2 to enter the pancake eating contest go directly to Tri Delta's philanthropy, St. Jude. Generous sponsors from the Tucson community have donated supplies so that all the money raised can go to support St. Jude.

    2. St. Jude was founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas.

    3. No family ever has to pay for treatment at St. Jude.

    Nothing for treatment, food, housing, or transportation. St. Jude will even arrange for families to have their pets and homes taken care of while at the hospital in Memphis.

    4. Through St. Jude's research, the childhood cancer survival rate has risen from 20% to over 80%.

    The survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) alone has risen from 4% to 94%. In the next decade, they hope to push the childhood cancer survival rate up to 90%.

    5. St. Jude is a research hospital.

    This means that on site, scientists are working to develop cures for childhood cancers, which are then shared with hospitals around the nation and the world.

    6. St. Jude focuses on the kids.

    Cooks at the hospital will make a child's favorite meal if provided the recipe. At the end of treatment, nurses and doctors throw "No More Chemo" parties for patients. Skip to 2:00 to see Peter's party.

    7. St. Jude is Tri Delta's national philanthropy.

    8. Tri Delta is working to raise $60 million in 10 years for St. Jude.

    In honor of this commitment, the short-term housing facility on St. Jude's campus has been named the Tri Delta Place.

    9. Tri Delta has sponsored three fundraising campaigns for St. Jude.

    10. DHOP isn't the only way Tri Delta supports St. Jude.

    Tri Delta at the University of Arizona raises money through DHOP, a letter writing campaign called Sincerely Yours, and various other events such as the St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk and For The Kids.
