Yeah I used to take the red line in high school too. Pretty terrifying. Still, metro is much safer than driving a car even considering this awful accident. I hope this does not discourage people from taking Metro. D.C. traffic is bad enough as is. R.I.P. to those affected and best wishes to those injured.

i was on the metro when this happened and i had to sit underground for at least 45 minutes. it was absolutely insane and so frightening. i was actually only a few stops away.

What's messed up is today NTSB is saying “we told you so.” so we're flaming the NTSB

This is absolutely awful. I used to take that exact route home everyday during high school, and it's still hard to imagine something like this ever happening.

I commuted on the Metro for years. Computer controlled but have a driver who sits in front. It would take a combination of failures to have this happen.
