Woman Giving Birth Attacked By Gang With Baseball Bats At Her Home

The 22-year-old was also slashed in the face with a knife.

A pregnant woman in labour suffered a fractured skull after five men broke into her home, attacked her with baseball bats, and slashed her face with a knife.

Her partner was reportedly upstairs in the house when the men burst into the property.

Despite the fact that she was suffering contractions, the men beat the pregnant woman and slashed her face with a butcher's knife, the Daily Mail reported.

Police said they also assaulted her partner before leaving the scene on foot.

The woman was taken to hospital in an ambulance and later gave birth to a healthy baby.

The gang are reported to have made off with a tablet computer, a mobile phone, and £60 in cash, ITV News reported.

Police described the men as being in their early to mid-twenties, with four of the group white and one black.

Detective inspector Joel Henderson said: "This was a shocking attack on a young woman who was in labour.

"It is vital we get those people responsible off the streets of Basildon."

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Essex police on 101.
