This Is Why British Plugs Are The Best In The World

Definitive proof.

1. Presenter Tom Scott believes he has proven why British plugs are the best around.

2. In a four-minute video, Scott outlines why the plug is “one of the greatest designs that has ever hit the world”.

Safety-wise, the British presenter points out how hard it is for a child to poke an instrument, say a screwdriver, into a socket.

3. He also highlights that the live and neutral pins are insulated, protecting you when a plug is only halfway in.

4. Scott also points out the earth wire in the British plug is deliberately slack.

If something is pulling on the cable and all the wires start fraying and coming out, the live and the neutral wires, “the ones where the danger is”, will be pulled out first.

“So in the event of damage, it’s most likely earth wire will be the safe one, and no one is going to get killed,” he adds.

5. There is one issue with the British plug though…

6. If you drop it, it will almost certainly end up pointing upwards, resulting in serious agony for anyone who stands on it.
