1. A South African judge has told Oscar Pistorius to present himself to a hospital for psychiatric tests every weekday for the next month.
The 27-year-old is accused of murdering his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, at his home in Pretoria, South Africa, on Valentine’s Day last year.
2. On Wednesday, Judge Thokozile Masipa said Pistorius’ murder trial would not resume until June 30 when the psychiatric tests at Weskoppies Hospital had been completed.
The decision to send him for mental examinations was triggered by the testimony of a psychiatrist who claimed Pistorius had suffered from an anxiety disorder since he was a child, in part due to the amputation of both of his lower legs.
The hospital tests will attempt to assess the South African’s state of mind when he shot and killed Steenkamp.
3. Pistorius insists he thought his girlfriend was an intruder in his home when he fired at her through a toilet door.
He will begin attending the hospital tests from Monday.
