Former Liverpool FC Player Ryan Babel Goes On Sexist Twitter Rant

Babel has been heavily criticised for his string of sexist tweets at a female fan.

Former Liverpool FC fan-favourite Ryan Babel has been heavily criticised on Twitter for telling a female football fan she should "concentrate on growing some tits".

@Shannxo i think u should concentrate on growing some tits instead of speaking about football... Ur a girl.. Stay in ur lane..

The comment was in reply to the Liverpool fan, who took exception to Babel's recent comments about former Reds manager, Rafa Benitez – the man responsible for bringing Babel to Liverpool in 2007.

@Ryanbabel @MailSport why you hate him so much 😂 hes manager of Real Madrid while you beg your Twitter followers to add you on Whatsapp 🐸☕️

Benitez, who managed Liverpool from 2004-2010 took over as manager of Real Madrid this summer and has already come under criticism from the press.

Babel played under Benitez at Liverpool from 2007-2010. He is now playing football in the United Arab Emirates.

Despite Babel's inflammatory comments, Liverpool fan @Shannxo continued to engage with the 28-year-old on Friday night.

@Khloe__ @Ryanbabel it is literally the best thing ever 😂😂😂😂 I know it's sexist but im crying with laughter

The former Dutch player followed up his initial remark by saying the fan's brother or boyfriend might be better placed to argue about football.

Atleast let your brother or your boyfriend make the comment then we can argue...

Not gonna argue with a lil girl, with all the respect.. C'mon now

It became quite a busy night for the Liverpool fan.

Babel's tweet drew derision from a number of people in the football community.

@smoggie1976 @Ryanbabel ha ha I saw. I'm on my way back to the kitchen as we speak.

    1. Does concentrating really hard help them grow? 2. Women have their own lane now? FFS 3. Babel still a cunt shocker

His head's fallen off, there. https://t.co/YKlBBdDxWj

Babel has long had a large social media following from his days at Liverpool, and this evening he posted what he claims is his phone number for people who might wish to get in contact with him.

But some fans struggled to get through.

So @NutmegRadio and @FriendlyFAUX just tried to talk to @Ryanbabel to get his side of the story...

BuzzFeed called Babel for comment, but received a recorded message. We have also contacted Ryan via text message.
