It’s to do with our Drug Laws within the UK. If any person or business allows someone to consume drugs on their premises then they can be charged as a criminal just as if they had possessed those drugs themselves. However if you put up a sign making clear that drug taking is not allowed and that you will expel anyone who consumes it on your premises -consuming being different to being on drugs- then you are not liable for any drug-taking that goes on.
Whilst the new Pope may be alright - his views towards inequality, homosexuality and atheists are refreshing - I still cannot get over how much of a twat the old one was.
I lost all respect for Herrera when he shoved Van Persie post game. That’s simply not okay for an international manager to do.
“Rest of humanity”…and that is why we don’t like America. I as well as what I assume was many others were in fact watching the Ghana vs Portugal game. That being the game that actually decided the group.
You realise that that is from the American English Oxford Dictionary; you’re link is evidence of this.
Can I just make clear,I don’t dislike the study of religion; indeed I think it is important for anyone claiming to be an atheist to have done so. I’ve read the Bible and the Qu’ran, got an A* in my R.E. GCSE and got an A in this test. My disdain was merely for the actual method in which R.E is taught - I completed my GCSEs only two years ago - wherein there is a focus upon Christianity over other equally important religions and where answering from a `religious` standpoint will always net a higher grade than answering from an atheistic one. Before my exam I was actually advised by my teacher to `pretend I was a Christian`.
Oh R.E can go fuck itself. As a stalwart Atheist I always found it difficult not be sarcastic in my answers and the overt focus on Christianity in most syllabuses always annoyed me; if you’re going to get me to learn about religion at least don’t be biased in which one we focus upon.
Well…most certainly not the most cowardly thing you could do. But pretty shitty.
Oh Fuck Off
No mention of the Falcon appearing in this film? Sacrilege! Best sidekick/superbuddy ever.
Having nukes is not the kind of thing you keep quiet. It’s usually more of an `I’m a big boy` kind of statement. Nukes are for show, not for use. And really…can you claim that it’s not hypocritical for the only nation in the area with nuclear weapons, and whose main ally is the only nation in history to use nuclear weapons on an enemy, to say that no-one else can have them.
This coming from the only nation in the Middle-East to actually have nuclear weapons. Ok then.
JESUS MARY MOTHER OF FUCK
That’s a rather extraneous argument kwarns. Some black people rob people. Are all black people robbers? Making the argument that just because he kicked a cat he is a sociopath is plainly ridicolous.
I agree that what he did was wrong and that he should face punishment of some sort. But the internet manhunt that has ensued disgusts me. Perfectly sane minded people who are perfectly liberal in their views towards the death sentence or lifetime incarceration are now suddenly calling for him to be `killed` or `kicked in the guts himself` or locked away without a key. That IS an over-reaction and that IS wrong.
And in reply to the early comment Haggard made…it may be possible for humans to care about two things at once…and yet we often don’t. My father worked at a high level in a national charity here in the UK and he saw year after year that more money was being donated to charities aimed at animals than those that helped humans. And I don’t understand peoples thinking? I would rather a thousand cats dies than one sick child and yet seemingly large numbers of our the people in our society would rather the child died. Animals are cute and all…but humans are important.
The reaction to this is over the top. I am never a fan of an internet manhunt and I’m still not. And this vehement over-reaction makes me sick. You’re ruining a man’s life because he made a mistake, admittedly a bad one, but not one that should tarnish him for life. The double standards of society piss me off. People always donate more to animal charities than human ones and people always get up in arms about animal abuse whilst seemingly caring very little about the human to human abuse that goes on everyday. How about you channel your rage at this man into something really useful….say like petitioning or protesting against the anti-gay laws in Russia or the unlawful detainment of journalist’s partners in the UK. He did wrong, he knows he did…leave him the fuck alone and grow up.
As someone living in the UK I haven’t noticed any exorbitant rises in meal prices compared to the US. Also…yes I would rather pay more for my meal than know that one bad tip could leave my server without enough money to buy a meal that night.
I really think the problem is with the slave wages paid to the servers by the restaurant owners. In the UK we tip a much lower amount but all tips are an added bonus on top of the pay that the company pays them. It seems simply ridiculous to me that restaurants can go about not paying their staff properly and then leave the public to foot the bill. I mean really, it seems stupid… A twenty percent tip seems simply preposterous when I think about it in the context of the nation I live in.
I always find them quite endearing. They’re trying their hardest to make a living and it is damn hard work. Most of them are out there through both summer and winter. In fact they were still performing on the Southbank when the temperature reached the mid-thirties last week. I see myself as having a pretty high tolerance for bullshit and idiocy…but come the fuck on. I’ve even shaken hands with that big one with the floppy arms.
Hey…the first one was pretty funny.
No need to feel creeped out with the sex in skins. It’s set in the UK and they’re in Sixth Form and so are all of legal age. Apart from Effy…her character arc in Season 1 and 2 was rather uncomfortable.
Almost everyone agrees that the Xbox 360 was the winner of the past generation. And from what I’ve seen Xbox One has better exclusives and deals with the larger gaming companies.
May I refer you to the internet. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pikey http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pikey It’s British slang term for a gypsy…but is now used other groups…namely those from up north.
I’m British. It’s realise.
It’s not desensitising ourselves; it’s growing up and getting over it. Yes Hitler did order the deaths of millions, yes he was an evil man and yes the Second World War was a saddening period of time. But making it a taboo subject is not helping anyone. It is a widely accepted fact that one of the best ways that humanity deals with `bad` things is with humour. It allows us to compute things that are otherwise almost impossible to understand. But anyway my mantra for occasions like this is: `You have the right to be offended and I have the right not to care`. So if you would kindly excuse me as I stop caring about your sensitive little feels.
So we should use the word nazi in relation to good things? If we’re going to treat any word as something bad, I do believe Nazi should be right on the top of the list.
God forbid we mention Hitler or even allude to his existence.
Yeah…’cos WW2 was like yesterday and none of us are grown up enough to realise the best way to deal with History like that is NOT to make it a taboo subject but to make Hitler a subject of derision; whilst still making it obvious his action were wrong.
It’s London. People get stabbed.
*soldier not solider.
Yeah but nobody likes Churches here. And we have more than one bank holiday per year, generally one every quarter. Museums that actually teach you things are; to a greater extent, free and government funded here.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. America needs to invest in more stable houses. Use bricks for feck’s sake.
Cezar is my new ringtone already.
No. It was bad. Let’s be honest it’s been dumbed down over the past series and a half. God I miss Tennant.
Oh and you’ve also forgotten the bane of those of us with higher prescriptions. Massively under or over sized eyes; depending on your prescription. I’ve got to the point where my prescription results in my eyes looking about half as large through the lense.
So true. People seem to think that shortsightedness just means you quite literally cannot see anything further than (in my case) about an inch away from my face. There is no light black hole produced by my crappy eyes..it’s just blurry for heavens sake.
Oh you almost got me this time. Really had to make an effort to hold them in.
He’s actually got a point. Helium is very important in industry and we are running out of it.
