Ares Drone Is Doodler's Dream

Maybe now we can stop smacking people with cameras.

Ever since there have been drones, there have been idiots putting people's eyes out with them.

The creators of Ares would like to change that.

Ares prides itself on its ultra-simplistic controls: all you do is draw a path with your finger and tell the camera what to point at and how high to fly. Ares is self-landing and also automatically loads video captures to your device's camera roll.

"Drones have the potential to be transformative, but right now they're extremely difficult to fly," says co-founder Ben Brautigam.

And he's right. Remember all those RC helicopters you crashed as a kid, bringing tears to your parents' eyes as they lit their wallets on fire? That's basically what most drones are currently controlled by. The images produced by amateurs are often shaky, zig-zagging messes.

Ares is still in funding mode on Kickstarter, but they're about half funded and have 16 days left. Early bird pricing means you could be the first of your friends to draw obscene things in the sky when Ares is released.

And then you'd no longer have to be this guy.
