It’s a narrative. Each picture tells a story. If you want your stories to be suitable for children only, then those are the stories you will be fed. Your outrage is misplaced, but you’re indulging in it. Connecting this to crimes by men against women is as hysterical as blaming Barbie for your poor body image. The images start a discussion; the discussion results in a cross-gender consensus that violence against women is bad. Once you have that, all the hot air seeps out of your enjoyable outrage and you have to stop demonizing males as monsters. The default mode of men is not the abuser; how dare you stain half of humanity with that calumny.

Yack to Kushiels’ anything and Laura K Talentless. Really, not a pleasure and there’s better things to be guilty about. These women can’t tell a story, can’t write a plot and gallop around on their god-awful Mary-Sues without anything actually happening. Count how many time Anita Blake draws a gun…and then never fires it! As for Phèdre, seriously meager cardboard cut-out in a flat world. It doesn’t matter about the other characters because they clearly don’t exist, not for Phèdre and not for the writer. If they were books about hot dog-breath werewolf sex and some spicy BDSM in a mediaeval world, they’d be a fascinating read. As it is, they’re gutless disappointments. I can write better. You probably can, too.
