16 Major World Cities, Ranked From Most To Least Honest

    Reporters at Readers Digest "lost" their wallets in cities around the world and kept track of how many were returned to them in each. The results might surprise you.

    The Readers Digest experiment:

    Twelve wallets were left in plain view "in parks, near shopping malls, and on sidewalks" in each of these cities. According to the Readers Digest report, every wallet contained "a name with a cellphone number, a family photo, coupons, and business cards, plus the equivalent of $50." Below are the cities, ranked by the number of returned wallets.

    1. Helsinki, Finland: 11 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    2. Mumbai, India: 9 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    3. Budapest, Hungary: 8 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    4. New York City, U.S.A.: 8 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    5. Moscow, Russia: 7 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    6. Amsterdam, the Netherlands: 7 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    7. Berlin, Germany: 6 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    8. Ljubljana, Slovenia: 6 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    9. London, England: 5 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    10. Warsaw, Poland: 5 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    11. Bucharest, Romania: 4 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    12. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 4 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    13. Zurich, Switzerland: 4 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    14. Prague, Czech Republic: 3 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    15. Madrid, Spain: 2 out of 12 wallets were returned.

    16. Lisbon, Portugal: 1 out of 12 wallets was returned.
