    Not to be all science-y or anything; however, for his *retina* to have been scratched, a piece of the bottle would’ve had to puncture his eyeball, pass through the viscous inner eye, and strike the retina, which is located on the interior posterior surface of the eyeball. We’re probably talking about his cornea, here.
