The consequences and the aftermath of allowing yourself to be used like a tool and discarded. The result of believing your own press and/or those who blew the smoke right up your - ! Still, that's a very tough place from which to maintain a sense of confidence and determination. An empty book-signing is no big deal because it happens to every touring author. The shame here is rooted in gullibility, weakness and knee-jerk obedience to people who do not have your best interests in mind. And above all else, this is the result of a colossal sense of entitlement which ––as with this guy and so many others, from the Mom bomb to reality show skanks–– is what America produces today so well: Average schmucks who's inner monster is triggered by a little attention. All that follows, they feel, is owed to them. It's all pathetic. We're not a nation of cowards, we're a nation of foot-stomping, name-callers and fat, greedy swine.
I think it's safe to conclude that Joe the Plumber and books do not share a demographic.
If you had the book signed, you probably watched him do all of the writing that he is responsible for in that book.
