Congratulations, you noticed that sometimes movies and media in general crib ideas off one another. this is how art works. (secret cliffs notes version: you're an idiot.)

This plot for pocahontas isn't completely accurate. (plus the 'avatar' summary from this ISN'T accurate.) And if you really wanted to be smart and correct, you'd switch the roles. The basic outline for the scrip of Avatar was written in 1994, pocahontas came out in 1995. ;]

If you're watching Avatar for the plot, you're missing the point.

It's very similar, the only problem I see is the ending. The humans and Na'Vi do NOT make peace with each other, the humans get kicked off the planet. Who cares if there is a similarity, people need to stop complaining and just enjoy the movie.

Avatar was a rip-off because it had a plot with characters in it and conflict. Plus it had music in it, like Beetlejuice does. And at the very end, credits. Like Ben Hur.

Ten foot tall blue aliens? Battlefield Earth… Energy religion that makes everything glow? Tron… The phrase “I SEE you?” Joy Luck Club… etc.  Most shamelessly derivative movie ever.
