i’m confused. whose show is it?

Like a lot of other confrontational direct-action groups, Queer Nation actually did some cool stuff—but every ool thing they did was spoiled by 10 pathetically childish and poorly thought-out attention grabs.
Arsenio handled the two QN idiots in this clip expertly. I wouldn’t expect anything other than an impassioned response to an accusation of bigotry where none exists. (How ‘bout we ask Arsenio whether it’s okay to mention bigotry based on race and bigotry based on sexual orientation as though they might have something in common.) And considering the time, his response is almost amazing, really. He doesn’t get credit for that, but I think many people have forgotten and most Gen-Y’ers have never been told how things were at that time. More people than ever were aware of the meaning of “gay”, at the same time as fear of AIDS was reaching hysterical levels, and gays were seen as the origin of and reason for the scary new plague. In that light, what Arsenio does here is more heroic than it might seem at first glance.
