    Of course, by claiming that these are "presented without comment", I *am* commenting on them: I'm saying that whatever I think is noteworthy about the subject matter I'm presenting should be so obvious that I don't need to spell it out for you. Now that I think of it, I guess "presented without comment" is an ironic statement, since it does the opposite of what it says it's doing by drawing attention to to a specific part of the context of the subject matter, my reaction to it (and therefore how I expect you to react to it), rather than the subject matter "itself". Similarly, saying "no comment" isn't just *literally* a comment, but it usually says that whatever was just asked about should not or cannot be commented on, which is another attempt to shape the context by suggesting an appropriate reaction. That's why we find refusals to answer certain questions telling; some silences speak volumes.
