Based on the promos, I was expecting this movie to be more action-movie generic than it was. I was pleasantly surprised by the choice to make it so stylized. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Davine S. 8 months agoYep, and I still loved it. It wouldn’t have worked if the chemistry between the two actors wasn’t so real and tangible - they did such an amazing job. [For anyone keeping score, YES I am still bitter that I got pestered with a phonecall 3 minutes from the end. And no, I will not let it go. My life is full of regrets.]

a revitalizing and re-imagining of old action genre tropes (style)—to the point that the film makes you feel like you’ve never seen something quite like it before—is as much substance as a film of its nature needs. couple that with its poignant-enough, western-style allegory, and you have yourself one of the best action films of the last few years.
