I lived in New Orleans for three years right after graduation. During the week I was a school teacher but on the weekends I was a hipster!

this is funny but the comments to come about “omg i hate hipsters” is going to be nauseating. particularly because it is so blatantly hypocritical by stereotyping a whole sect of people based solely on a few shared likes in fashion and culture. also because the people that mock hipsters either A. share a pretty close list of interests similar to those they condemn B. really boring/conservative people who also label miley cyrus a hipster [my brother] or C. angry people who have spent years trying to be cool, never reached whatever level they were yearning for, and ultimately failed and felt dejected [all manifested internally; their failure never actually existed] and thus are left incredibly bitter towards people they think are “cool” but would never admit it.
Not hipsters. This is a wastrel map. ‘Wastrel’ is the new most desirable career title for downardly-mobile white people, terrified of growing up, and who value “keepin it real” whatever the fuck that is…
Seattle has a “great punk scene”? Someone should have told me, I’ve lived here for eight years and I can’t find it. Plenty of coffee, though.
Come again and again. But for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live. Or if you do have to move in to live, don’t tell any of your neighbors where you are going.” -Former Governor Tom McCall Originally this was about Californians but any true Oregonian feels this way about our fucking hipster infestation (most of them aren’t from Oregon).
