Here is a photo of the president and his cabinet monitoring the mission against Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room of the White House. Its been reported that Obama was watching the whole thing via a soldier’s helmet cam.
Well, I see 4 men in there with their arms crossed. I take the arm-crossing as a sign of suppression - against anxiety? I would think that this was extremely stressful to see. One man had has his arms behind his back, which I take as a sign of disassociation. Hillary - her actions speak for themselves. I’d probably do the same thing seeing what she’s probably seeing. Obama - he looks extremely interested in what’s happening, but I don’t think he’s feeling any less stress. To me, he looks like the most stressed person in the room in this photo. And, given all the activity they were watching, I wouldn’t blame him one bit!
I love this picture of Secretary Clinton so damn much. This is why you need someone like her as Secretary of State; she comprehends the gravity of authorizing something like this and doesn’t get off on it like W and his band of chickenhawks did.
Anyone notice that Hillary’s binder has a “Top Secret Codeword…” on it. I saw it in the high resolution of this pic on Flickr
At least he appears conscious of the gravity of the moment. Bush would probably have been chewing on some jerky and sipping from a beer hat while pretending to shoot at the screen, complete with gun sounds.
